**My Teaching Philosophy**
I believe that I should strategically plan learning activities in the classroom. Every child learns differently, and it's important for teachers to find appropriate accommodations to support each child's developmental needs—whether social, emotional, physical, cognitive, sensory, or communicative. Since I don't know their students in advance, preparation is essential.
I feel that kindergarten should not focus solely on play; instead, it should serve as an excellent opportunity to introduce social-emotional learning, early literacy, and fundamental mathematics. In this framework, students can make decisions, solve problems, and engage with their environment. By doing so, I aim to help students develop a sense of independence, fostering their mental, physical, and emotional well-being throughout the school year.

Hello, my name is Nicole Smith, I'm one of the instructional aides here at San Lucas school. I was born and raised in Salinas. I moved to the King City area about 8 years ago with my husband and children. This will be my 5th year here at the school. My fondest memories are from the ASES program when we had the Mock Rock performance.
