Due to the extension of the Monterey County shelter in place order, the school is closed through May 31.
The San Lucas teachers are working tirelessly through this pandemic to make sure our students continue to receive an education, depsite sheltering at home during a pandemic. You can thank them with cards or gifts, which can be dropped off during meal time, or social media shout outs using @sanlucastigers or #sanlucastogether on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
This week is California School Employees Association Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to thank Mrs. Ramirez, Mrs. Garcia, Mrs. Godinez, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Rico, Mr. Velasco, and Mr. Villasenor for their work here at school. Several of them are here every day to make sure meals are distributed and the school facilities stay clean and safe. Thank you!
Dear Parents,
Thank you for your patience as the school worked out details to close out our 2019-2020 school year during the COVID-19 closure.
Here are important upcoming dates:

May 28, 2020 -- Kindergarten graduation ceremony, not open to the public -- details will be sent to Kinder families only. A Facebook tribute video will be posted live at 2:30pm.
May 28-29, 2020 -- All paper work packets must be returned.

June 3, 2020 -- End of School Year Awards -- no ceremony, live Facebook video to be posted at 1pm.
June 3, 2020 -- 8th grade graduation ceremony, not open to the public -- details have been emailed to the 8th grade students. A Facebook tribute video will be posted live at 5:30pm.
June 4, 2020 - August 9, 2020 -- Summer Break for Students. There will be no school meal program during this time. As information is made available on possible summer meal options, we will announce it.
The first day of the 20/21 school year for students is August 10, 2020. At this time, we are planning to provide a blend of physical and online learning in the fall. We do not yet have precise details. Student groups may come to school for half a day or only certain days of the week. Grades K-5 will follow a different learning plan than Grades 6-8. Right now, there are many changes being asked of schools. The school needs time to sort through what is suggested and what is required.
Nothing like this has happened in recent history, and we ask you to please be patient as we work out the best approach to providing a healthy and productive learning environment that is also practical. The school staff will have no firm answers for you on this topic. Please email all questions, concerns, and ideas to Mrs. Riley at jriley@sanlucasschool.com or leave a message at 831-382-4426 x202.
Please take this survey to share your thoughts on face masks and returning to school. Please, only one survey per family.
Responda esta encuesta para compartir sus pensamientos sobre las máscaras faciales y el regreso a la escuela. Por favor, solo una encuesta por familia.
Per the June 9, 2020 San Lucas Board meeting, the San Lucas USD Chromebooks are no longer usable by the District. If you are a San Lucas student from the 19/20 school year, you may check out a Chromebook to go on iReady and other educational websites to keep your brain engaged over the summer. Students may keep the Chromebooks for the remaining life of the Chromebook. Parents will take on full responsibility for supervising information the students access on their Chromebooks. Mrs. Riley is available to distribute Chromebooks from 9am-12pm Monday to Thursday.

No school technology will be distributed until we have a survey from every student.

As a provision 2 school, we are happy to provide a free breakfast and lunch to every registered San Lucas student, regardless of their financial situation. Meals must be pre-ordered in the front office daily, no later than 8:15am. The meal distributed at 11:45am will include the day's lunch and the following morning's breakfast. Meals are cooked, but served cold. They may need to be reheated at home.
We have a new survey for you, to see how the first four weeks of distance learning is going. You may review our Learning and Continuity Plan in the table to the left, and then please take this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8C7CVNR
If you enter the survey by September 4, you will be entered into a raffle for an Avengers waffle maker or an Olaf Sno-Cone maker.
You are also welcome to attend the public hearing on Sept 8, at 6:30pm, as posted at the post office and school bulletin board since August 12.
